It's a smile, it's a kiss

it's a sip of wine, it's SUMMERTIME!!

It's finally summer & I'm officially a senior in college! Seriously, where did the past three years go?? I start my internship tomorrow & move into a new house in about two weeks. Today I've decided to do my favorites: eat, shop, & watch my shows. This summer is going to be jammed packed with working, moving, somehow making it down to Texas at least once, a few weddings, taking two classes.

One of the things that I've decided to do this summer is actually take the time to decorate my room for our new house. I've had the same furniture since I was in like 2nd grade so I'm going to paint that, buy some new hardware, maybe find some pieces at the flea market, purchase a new duvet cover, & attempt to do the majority of it DIY style & not purchases many "finished" products. This is what I'm thinking so far....

I'm swooning over romantic floral prints and mint green. My current room is pretty bright and I'm wanting to take it down a few notches and make it more relaxing. Hopefully I'll be able to pull a little something like this together over the next few months.  This summer will definitely be a roller coaster but I'm hoping I'll enjoy this ride. Happy Summer 2012!!

I Made It!!

Losing one hour of sleep is such a drag, especially when you're a college student and sleep is already a rare thing. This past week was cray and I am SO glad that it is over. I usually have Friday off from classes and I use that day to be lazy and to catch up on sleep but this Friday I was in a computer lab all day working on a project  that doesn't relate to my major. It was the most frustrating thing I have ever done. The project itself was extremely tedious and then the fact that it isn't benefiting me made it even more irritating and made the day just drag.

Thankfully today made this week so much better. Even though we woke up around 7:15 this morning it was to go out and make a difference in our community. Today was Big Event where college students and organizations go out and do tasks for people within our community.  It could be anything from getting groceries to major yard work.  Our group was divided up into 9 different projects that had a major range of different tasks.  Our resident was the most precious lady ever.  She reminded me of my own grandma in a few ways.  The first thing I did was to take her little poodle outside for a little walk and her dog was just like my grandma's dog, down to the bathroom routine. While the guys raked leaves and did a few other yard work activities, we were inside doing, what we thought were basic, house chores. We vacuumed, dusted, cleaned the glass, counter tops, etc. My favorite task was trying to figure out how to work her new fax machine that she had purchased. "How many sorority girls does it take to work a fax machine?" was the famous question and apparently it took four, but we did figure it out.

After participating in the Big Event we met up with a few other sisters at Ihop for a late breakfast. It was so nice to just hang out with them, talk about anything and everything, and dream about our upcoming spring break (1 more week!!).  I just love my sisters, they are seriously the best group of women that I have ever met. I am so excited to continue to get to know these women and do so many more fun activities together. After Ihop we had about a two hour break before a meeting. After our meeting we went to Walmart. I despise Walmart. It's so depressing. No matter what I spend like $50 dollars. It's awful and makes me so sad. Quit taking my money, please. I have bills to pay dangit. After Walmart we used my Sonic giftcard (thanks grandma!!) to eat our feelings. I love Sonic's ice, I'm pretty sure everyone does.

While we were at Sonic there were two handsome men that I TRIED to get my roommate to go talk to. She had the PERFECT conversation starter too!! They were athletes at the college her cousin went to. So my plan was for her to go out there and be like oh hey I know that school that's where my cousin went then BAM small talk, exchange digits, get you a date. But it didn't happen or else this whole post would've been about that adventure. After Sonic we've been hanging out at home watching basketball, thank you March.

One final and a paper due this week. I can do this. Then it's Norman for two nights and then off to Vegas with my boo monster!! SO EXCITED!! It's my first vacation/trip that's not related to Eric being in band (Pride of Broken Arrow) or sports related (wrestling, basketball, softball, golf, etc). I am so excited. We fly out early Saturday morning to LAX and then over to Vegas after a 3 hour layover. EEEK this week will be the slowest week EVER!! I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend so far. Don't forget to SPRING FORWARD so you don't miss Church in the morning!!

P.S. I don't proofread my posts because I feel like if I did then I would delete random thoughts and it wouldn't be straight off my mind so ignore any grammar mistakes, thank you :)

ALMOST Spring Break

These next two weeks are definitely going to be a nice test of endurance. After my test tomorrow I will get 1 day to relax. 1. That 1 day will need to last a good 300 hours past the 24 hours in a day limit. Please. Next week I have 3 tests, a project, and a paper. I wish I could just write this paper this weekend but we don't get the topic until Tuesday & it's due Thursday. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME!?!?!? The next week is another test & a final.  That's correct a final.

Worst decision of my life, take an online class in 8 weeks. I don't recommend it. Learning a semester worth of material in 8 weeks is awful. Doing all my work online is awful. Taking tests while I should be with my sisters is awful. Confusing due dates is awful. Missing an assignment (times 6) is awful. I'm not cut out for online classes. Lesson learned, now please be good to me these next two weeks.

This past weekend was our sisterhood retreat AND my 21st birthday!! Definitely a super fun weekend with my sisters AND I was lucky enough to share such a fun & special day with them.

I'm stressed & excited about this weekend. This weekend has been canceled three times this week.  The plans are to go out with some sisters + boyfriends tomorrow night & get some Mexican food & share lots of laughs. Then later that night I'm going back to Norman with Jake so he can go to class on Friday. After he's finished we're going back home & that night we're going out with his family to celebrate my birthday. My boyfriend's family is seriously the sweetest & most giving people I've ever met. I absolutely adore them. THEN Saturday is study study study. We're devoting a solid 4-6 hours of studying for my Management test that's on Monday night. After a day full of studying Jake & I are heading out to the farm for a birthday date night. I'm excited for hot dogs & smores out on the fire & being in the middle of nowhere. I am definitely in need of some peace & quite for a day.

Spring Break cannot come soon enough. I'm ready to take of to Las Vegas with my love, go see Blake Shelton in concert while we're there, & go explore the town!!

This week has been rough, for sure. Lots of things not going like we thought they would or how we were told it would go.  But one of my friends that lives in Tennessee is waiting to find out if her home was destroyed by a tornado that went through their area. Please say some prayers for the victims from the recent tornado outbreak that happened over these past few days.  Thankfully she is okay along with her immediate family but they are still trying to get a hold of a few more extended family members so please pray for peace for the Brady family & that they have a home to go back to. So scary.

Look out for my High 5 for Friday post!!

Love Is In The Air

It's officially Valentine's Day!!!! I'm definitely excited this year because I get to spend it with Jake on the actual day. We didn't spend our first Valentine's Day together & who knows if we'll be able to spend next year's together but we're spending this year's together & that's what matters!! I thought that I was under the impression that I knew what was going on for tomorrow's festivities but apparently I'm out of the loop on some things & I'm pretty excited about that.

A lot of people say that this is a stupid holiday & Hallmark created it, blah blah blah. Well as a seasonal Hallmark employee I feel like saying that Valentine's Day is a Hallmark creation is like saying that Christmas is celebrated because of Hallmark.  Christmas isn't celebrated because of Hallmark. Christmas is celebrated because of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Valentine's Day came about because of the Roman Emperor Claudius II banned all marriages and engagements because he believed that single men made better soldiers than married men with families. Valentine though of this as an injustice & continued to perform marriages young lovers but in secret. Some stories suggest that Valentine was killed for attempting to help Christians escape from harsh Roman punishment and torture. Another legend suggests that while he was imprisoned he sent the jailor's daughter, a young girl he fell in love with while she visited him during his confinement, the first ever "Valentine" greeting.  Right before his death he signed off saying "From Your Valentine" which is a very commonly used phrase today. Although his past seems unclear all his stories emphasize him as romantic and heroic.

So there you have it, the story of Valentine's Day sans Hallmark. Hope everyone has a fantastic Tuesday filled with love, whether that be from your significant other, roommate, best friend, parent, pet, or stranger. Spread some love today by doing a random act of kindness for a complete stranger, I mean the holiday founded on love doesn't have to be a romantic love, it could be a kindness love, just make it what you want it to be.
